If residential neighborhoods provide the heartbeat of Farmers Branch, the business and commercial community provides the lifeblood. Nearly 80 percent of the Farmers Branch tax base comes from businesses. That enables the City to keep the tax rate comparatively low while providing the highest quality of City services. After a relatively calm period in recent years, business development is definitely back on the upswing in Farmers Branch. Corporate relocations in the past 18 months have included the Taco Bueno restaurant chain, The Delta Companies, and Office Expo to name a few. Farmers Branch has definitely become a dynamic powerhouse business center in North Dallas.

Much of the expansion on the City’s business landscape in the next 15 years will be seen on the West Side of the City. A Public Improvement District is being formed for the financing of major infrastructure improvements in Mercer Crossing, encompassing 800 acres located on the West Side. Future construction will include streets, water, sewer, lake improvements, and a spectacular fountain.

In December 2007, Farmers Branch honored not only its commitment to beautification, but also to the heroism and patriotism of the sons and daughters of Farmers Branch. Liberty Plaza, the newest addition to Farmers Branch, boasts a 60-foot-by-30-foot American flag designed as a gateway into the City. Liberty Plaza, located directly south of the Dr Pepper StarCenter, is in its early stages of growth. With future expansion on the horizon – including a water feature, patriotic sculptures, a walking trail, and a meditation area – this plaza will become a place of living, working, playing, reflecting, honoring, and more.
